MySpace!!

Do you have a quiet time space?

Do you think that what I am doing is not for you but you want to have a closer walk with the Lord?  Well, make sure you find your "My Space".  No, no, I am not talking about the old website My Space that everyone used to use!!!  I am talking about a space that you can call your own!!  This space does not have to be an entire room dedicated just for your daily quiet times, it does not have to be indoors, and it does not have to be very big.  All you need to have is a space where you can remove yourself as much as possible from the world so that you can spend time with the Lord, and only the Lord.

Step away from distractions!

I would suggest that you either turn your phone off or leave it in the other room.  If God is speaking to you I promise you do not want to be interrupted!

Don't have your quiet time right when your kids wake up!!  Try to wait until they are taking a nap, or asleep.  It would be great if you could set a specific time each day for your quiet time...but for most of us that just isn't realistic!  With kids you never know when someone is going to wake up with an ear ache, or someone will come in from outside throwing up, or one of the little ones will fall and want their mommy.  So, do not be too frustrated if things do occasionally pop up and you are interrupted.  If you are married with kids then I would suggest having a conversation with your husband about the importance of your quiet time!  Tell him that you would like to be able to be undisturbed for 20 minutes at a specific time.  Ask him to watch the kids for you.  BUT PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF PETE!!!  Do not ask him right when he walks in the door from work, or right before a ball game.  Be considerate of his time as well.  If you are more considerate in the beginning then eventually he might become okay with you doing your quiet time at any given point in the day. He might eventually offer to take the kids out for ice cream so that you can have your quiet time interruption free!!

I currently have 2 spaces!  I have my chair in our bedroom, and the kitchen table.  I use both of these areas to spend time with the Lord.  They are my, MySpaces!!  I have not always had a MySpace but I am so glad that I decided to choose one!  I think that having one will encourage me and remind me each day that I need to spend time with Jesus.  Let me explain.... My chair is my main place of worship.  This is where my Bible, my books, my pens and pencils, my notebook, and my dictionary live.  This is my main MySpace.  Before, this chair was the holder of clothes!!  Don't snarl your nose at me!  You know, WE ALL DO IT!!  Yours might be the treadmill that never gets used, or the trunk at the end of your bed, or the top of the counter in your washroom.  We all have places that our clothes tend to take over!  If my chair becomes covered in clothes....and it stays there for more than one day then I have a problem!  That means that I am not having my quiet time.  This is one of the reasons why I chose this chair.  I chose it because it is away from the kids, away from the TV, and it will be a daily reminder to have my quiet time.  If I see those clothes on that chair then I need to put them away and sit down and spend time with my heavenly father!

They say it only takes 20 days to make a habit.  Try it out and see!  See what 20 days of reading God's word can bring you!  I promise you will be so happy you chose to do so!
